"The Great Gatsby (by F. Scott Fitzgerald), Native Son (by Richard A. Wright) is a really good book too. Crime and Punishment (by Fyodor Dostoevsky) is another great book of mine. Hayden Panettiere
Hayden Panettiere

"The Harry Potter series is great. It sometimes takes a lot to grab my attention and with the Harry Potter books they took me to this totally different world and I could totally envision it and imagine it. I would hate coming back to my world. I would go, 'I wish something like this existed. I wish I was a witch!' It's magical. Another one is The Giver (by Lois Lowry) that I read in school. The beginning was 'Oh here's another book I have to read that I'm not going to like.' But I liked it. It was such a neat story. It's about this town and there's a man called The Giver. And also A Child Called "It" (by David Pelzer), which is about child abuse from [a] boy's eyes."
Jesse McCartney

I'm super excited to read the whole thing!"

"I am currently reading A Small Place by Jamaica Kincaid. It's a powerful narrative about the small island of Antigua written by a woman who witnessed the corruption and mistreatment of her beloved homeland. The book is written in a very blunt and sarcastic tone. Kincaid is very passionate about the subject, which makes it such an interesting read."
Luke Wilson
Luke Wilson

Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (by Mark Twain) had a big effect on me. Those were always ones I re-read a couple of times. There was a series called The Great Brain series (By John D. Fitzgerald) - those were really interesting. They were about a kid growing up in a Mormon family in Utah. Then, those S.E. Hinton books. I’d always get those from Owen [Wilson, Luke’s older brother] – I’d see him reading The Outsiders and things like that.”

It's so fun reading the early stories on some of our country's most popular fairy tales. They were much darker then and were originally used to scare kids instead of entertain them!"
